Lumbini Tour
Lumbini is the birthplace of Lord Buddha it lies in the southern Terai plains of Nepal and is about 300 km Southwest of Kathmandu. The holy site Lumbini is as being the birthplace of Lord Buddha regarded as a sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhist religious people. Sightseeing in Lumbini provides in your inside real peace and paradise. In 250 BC, Emperor Ashoka built a large stone pillar containing an inscription about the birth of the Buddha which is the main remaining proof for the entire world to now the reality of the place. There are a museum and a research center for Buddhism and beautiful many newly built monuments. The most popular of them is the peace pagoda, Lumbini Garden, Maya Devi Temple, Tara Foundation, world China Temple, Thai  Monastery, Burmese (Myanmar) Temple, Nepal Buddha Temple, and Dharma swami Buddhist monastery are the major attractions of Lumbini.
Lumbini is located 25 km east of the municipality of Kapil Vastu, the place where the Buddha grew up and lived up to the age of 29. Kapil Vastu is the name of the place as well as the neighboring district. Lumbini has various Buddhist temples including the Maya Devi temple and many which are presently (2007) under construction. There is also the Puskarini Pond and remains of Kapil Vastu place in Lumbini. There are other sites near Lumbini where, according to Buddhist tradition, previous Buddha was born and achieved enlightenment and died.
Lumbini, as of 1997, is a UNESCO World Heritage site specifically nominated for the international world heritage program.
The holy site of Lumbini is bordered by a large monastic zone, in which only monasteries can be built, no shops or hotels or restaurants. It is separated into an eastern and western monastic zone, the eastern having the Theravadin monasteries, the western having Mahayana and Vajrayana monasteries.
The holy site of Lumbini has ruins of ancient monasteries, a sacred Bodhi tree, an ancient pond, the Asoka Pillar, and the Maya Devi Temple, where the precise place of birth of Buddha is located. From early morning to early evening, pilgrims from various countries perform chanting and meditation at the site.

Day 01: arrive at Kathmandu (1400m/4593ft) and transfer to Hotel

 You will arrive in Nepal at Tribhuvan International, Kathmandu. Tribhuwan International Airport is the only airport in Nepal. You can meet our representatives from Swagat Holiday Treks & Expedition outside the airport terminal. A signboard that “Swagat Holiday Treks & Expedition” will help you find these representatives easily. You can check into your hotel with them. You have a couple of options as to how you spend your day/evening. Either you can relax in the hotel or you can go for exploring small towns likes Thamel on your own.

Day 02: Pre-Trip meeting in the morning and sightseeing tour in Kathmandu.

You will meet our representatives from Swagat Holiday Treks & Expedition in the morning and discuss your Salleri (Phaplu) Everest Base Camp Trek. In this pre-Trip meeting, you will have plenty of information about the weather, difficulty, etc. during the trip. You can meet your guide and meet the various members of your trip.

You will get for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley after the briefing. The many UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu make it a beautiful place for an excellent sightseeing tour.

Pashupatinath Temple:

Pashupatinath Temple lies on the bank of the Bagmati River, is one of the holiest sites in Kathmandu. It is the biggest Hindu temple in the world. The main temple is two-storeyed. It also has smaller monuments as well as places for pilgrimage surrounding it.

Baudhanath and Swayambhunath

Baudhanath and Swayambhunath are the most famous Buddhist temples you will go to on this trip. The feel of the Buddhist culture as well as the peaceful setting of these two monasteries is made for a wonderful visit to these places.

You will also get to two Durbar Squares- Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Square- during this trip. Historical temples like Krishna Mandir, Hanuman Dhoka, museums, and other smaller temples make these two squares some of the most delightful in this trip. You can see the perfect representations of the medieval architecture of Nepal in these two squares.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Lumbini

After taking a nutritious breakfast, we travel overland from Kathmandu to the Lumbini, one of the places with breathtaking views and scenic beauty. The birthplace of Lord Buddha is one of the most compelling places to visit in Nepal. Considered as the place of holy pilgrimage, Lumbini falls in the list of world Heritage Sites recognized by UNESCO. The moment we arrive at Lumbini, we transfer you to the hotel for taking rest after the journey. Check-in and then we go walking through the Sacred Lumbini Garden, the place to visit as it is considered the holy place and the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. There remains the Ashoka pillar on the charts too. Visiting the Maya Devi Temple with its bas-relief sculpture depicting Maya Devi also marks this on our Nepal tour journey.

Day 04: Lumbini Sightseeing

After our breakfast, we start for the trip by driving away, 27 km west of Lumbini. Visiting the important archaeological site, Tilaurakot also remains on our traveling charts. As we know that the ancient palace of King Suddodha (Siddhartha Gautam’s father), is a place to visit, we also take you to other sites as well. This is the place you will love to see as it is where the Buddha spent his formative years as a Shakya Prince. Enjoy yourself for a moment to wander around and immerse yourself in the glory of wonderful places. There is also a museum nearby for you to enjoy.

Day 05: Lumbini to Kathmandu

After taking our breakfast, we go to Lumbini via road and back to Kathmandu. Check-in at the hotel is planned thereafter taking the day at your own leisure.

 

Day 06: Final departure to back home

The fascinating adventure and cultural exploration Upper Mustang Trek end here by today. We hope you had a memorial and fantastic adventure with us in the Himalayas. As per your international flight scheduled you will be transferred to Kathmandu international airport 4 hours before the flight time.

Before leaving for the airport, you need to confirm that you have secured a tour air ticket as well as other travel-related documents. We wish you have a wonderful departure back home. We can also arrange for another trip to Nepal in case you want to.
