Trip Introduction


Kali Gandaki River Rafting is one of Nepal’s most beautiful and most fun-filled. It is medium length Rivers and merging high white Water. Kali Gandaki raises in Mustang; An enclave of Nepal poking into Tibet on the other side of the Himalaya. As it tumbles down between the majestic Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna ranges; It creates one of the world’s deepest river canyons. Kali Gandaki River rafting is also exploring lush fields and forests to the mountains. Into the desert-dry trans-Himalayan region that lies on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau. It offers you spectacular views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhare range. The Kali Gandaki is one of the most remote rivers in Central Nepal as there are no roads or trekking trails that follow the river.
From Kathmandu, we will have to drive or take a flight to Pokhara. Kali Gandaki River Rafting begins with close up views of the Himalayas, varied ecosystems, green paddy fields, and oak forests, arid deserts as well as the deepest gorge. Throughout the rafting, we also enjoy the cliffs, up and down in the river rapids. Kali Gandaki River passes through the surroundings is striking with blue-green water. High side lush green valleys and golden sandstone cliffs with eagle reading the updrafts.
You’ll enjoy the 3-4 grade rapids with low points and exciting flips. The camping during the Kali Gandaki rafting is another significant way to make your rafting success in the sense you will witness the natural versatilities with the vegetation and wildlife.
Kali Gandaki is also famous for the high degree of kayaking in the white river. Both experienced and novice rafters will love the raft in Kali Gandaki. Being one of the holiest rivers in Nepal, every river seam of the Kali Gandaki is dotted with cremation spot and exceeding ground burial mounds.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)
Upon arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be received by a representative from Swagat Holiday Treks & Expedition and then transferred to your hotel. At the hotel, you will be treated with welcome drinks. We then have a quick pre-trip meeting where you will be briefed on the necessary formalities and your trip itinerary. To avoid the jetlag, you can spend the reaming half of the day by resting. Or if lying is too unbecoming for you, stroll around the nearby places just to get the feel of what this city is like. You will stay overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Kathmandu city sightseeing (1400m)
After breakfast, we will take transport vehicles and head off for a guided tour of the renowned historical and cultural landmarks of Kathmandu. You will be visiting sites like Pashupatinath Temple (the most revered Hindu shrine), Kathmandu Durbar square at Basantapur, and then Boudhanath (the Maha stupa). All these sites have been listed in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list. After the entertaining and informative tour, we drive back to the hotel and you will stay overnight at the same hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (830m), Duration: 25 minutes
After breakfast, you will be driven to the domestic wing of the Kathmandu airport. We board on a short scenic flight to Pokhara. The 25 minutes on board is tantamount to a scenic extravaganza, offering us some of the most incredible views of the verdant landscapes and jaw-dropping Himalayan panorama. Once at Pokhara, you will be transferred to your designated hotel where you can relax for some time.
Pokhara happens to be one of the best holiday destinations in Nepal. The city is literally blessed with uncommon natural beauty, splendid mountainous backdrop, and a chain of mesmerizing lakes. So, to make the most of our stay in this famed tourist hotspot, we head on for a drive around the city, taking a sneak peek on the popular landmarks here, viz. Barahi Temple, Mahendra Cave, Davis Falls, Rupa, Fewa and Begnas Lakes, etc. provided that the time permits, we can even sample a soothing boat ride at the Fewa Lake. If you are one of those pub freaks, you can try out a funky bar in the evening. We will stay overnight at the hotel in Pokhara.

Day 04:  Drive Pokhara- Nayapul, raft Nayapool- Modi Dovan, Drive Duration: 3 Hrs
After the emerging breakfast at the hotel, we drive to our rafting point at Nayapool. On reaching Nayapool we clad ourselves in the rafting attires. The Kali Gandaki roars close to us as if to invite us for the face-off! We attend a security briefing from our rafting expert, after which the daring venture commences.
As we maneuver along the deepest gorge of the world with our professional river guide, a bumpy section of class III rapids greets us. A natural showcase of deeply wooded canyons, warm waters, sparkling side creeks and spectacular glimpses of wildlife make our journey even more pulsating. With tired muscles but elevated spirits, we approach the Modi Dovan, our camping site for the night. We savor a succulent dinner under the canopy of an open sky of sparkling stars. The campfire lulls us while we contemplate over the next rafting day in the gorge section. We will stay overnight at a tent in Modi Dovan.

Day 05: Raft from Modi Dovan to Mirmi Ghat
Once we have breakfast and rafts are packed, we start down the river for a day mixed with adrenaline, calm, and spectacular scenery. Today is continuous grade 3 to 4 world-class white water rapids. You will have glances of fantastic Annapurna range and Mt. Hiunchuli. Wave trains and holes are going to make your rafting in Kali Gandaki more exciting. Watch out for the flips. Enjoy the fast-flowing river current. Make you dedicated to the overwhelming journey of water. As the river action kicks off, we constantly find ourselves padding through the majestic waves. Honestly, the faint-hearted once is not going to find it exciting, but yes the surreal vistas of snowcapped peaks, verdant forests, and a glimpse of some exciting wild lives could obviously have a blaming effect. The day’s thrilling trip wraps up at Mirmi Ghat. We will stay overnight at a tent in Mirmi Ghat.

Day 06: Raft from Mirmi Ghat to Ramdi Ghat, drive Ramdi Ghat to Pokhara and fly back to Kathmandu
On this last rafting day, we toil through the boulder-strewn white-waters at one time and calm pools, interspersed with frothing and pulse-quickening rapids at other. As we continue downstream, the river cliffs narrow shrilly above us. There is usually a great audience to watch and listen to the spectacle as each team negotiates the rapid that has formed around this holy place. You will have some exciting rapid, and soon you will be at the last point of the trip. Eventually, after rafting for two hours, we arrive at Ramdi Ghat, where our water fiesta concludes. From here, we drive to the Pokhara airport and board on a flight back to Kathmandu. You will be transferred to your designated hotel. You will stay overnight at the hotel Kathmandu.

Day 07: Free day in Kathmandu
Needless to say that rafting is a strenuous sport, so we have allotted an extra day in Kathmandu, just to make sure that you are well-rested and rejuvenated before your flight back home. This would be the day when you would probably want to indulge yourself in some souvenir shopping. Thamel is your hot spot for shopping. Hoard anything that strikes you, but make sure that you portray yourself as a shrewd customer, or else you might just get ripped off by one of the seemingly amiable storekeepers. Once you are done, get back to the hotel and do some packing.
We have the last bit of fun still in store for you. In the evening, Swagat Holiday Treks & Expedition will host a dinner program featuring a range of traditional Nepali cuisines and a live cultural show. Cut loose but sleep tight. You will stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 08: Final departure to your homeland or onward destination
Unless you intend to extend your trip, this will be your last day in Nepal. A representative from Swagat Holiday Treks & Expedition will escort you to the Tribhuwan International Airport, three hours prior to your flight schedule.
As you wave us goodbye and enter the terminal block, you would perhaps recall your arrival at this place. No wonder, everything seems so familiar now, because you had come here as a tourist, but you are going back as a friend. Have a safe flight back home and we look forward to being your travel companion in Nepal again.
